Etiënne VantKruys: more bubbles and copies in the DeFi & crypto space

Observing the ongoing trends in the DeFi and Crypto market in 2021, we want to understand what to expect further and how professional investors look at this space.

How to evaluate and find good investment opportunities among DeFi startups? How to invest in DeFi projects? What drives innovations in the blockchain sector? And what trends we’ll see in the foreseen future of the crypto industry?

To answer all these questions we met with Etiënne vantKruys, CEO & founder at TRG Capital, one of the top VC firms investing in DeFi & crypto startups. Switching the professional path from healthcare to the crypto finance field, Etienne has years of expertise in investing in blockchain protocols, decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, and tokenized startups. His investment portfolio includes Polkadot, Kava blockchain, Ava Labs, Staker DAO, and other very strong DeFi startups.

Etienne shared his insights on the main difference between VC investing in DeFi and the “traditional” VC approach and explained how to identify good investment opportunities in this sector. He also shared opinions on the best defi projects to invest in.
