What is the crypto Metaverse?
The crypto Metaverse is a decentralized network of multiple blockchains and digital assets. Each blockchain and digital asset on the network can maintain its value, be spent in the network, and be traded on the network.
William Gibson coined the term “cyberspace” in his outstanding science fiction novel Neuromancer. He imagined a world in which 3D environments and avatars were created by programmers, and where people interacted with these thought constructs as naturally as they do with each other. We are on the verge of a revolution where we can start to experience something similar today with the metaverse.
The metaverse is a decentralized world where everyone can take part in the creation of content. In addition to this, every person who downloads our software will be able to create content and exchange it with others.
The metaverse refers to a collective virtual shared space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual space, including the sum of all virtual worlds, augmented reality, and the internet.
Virtual items are owned by users and can be transferred peer-to-peer without centralized control.
Why the crypto metaverse is important
This technology could enable people to do things that are currently impossible or unfeasible for other reasons. It’s a hypothetical future reality built on blockchain network infrastructure that serves as a platform for social, economic, and technological development.
Cryptocurrencies and blockchain-based DApps will allow for endless opportunities in nearly every conceivable industry and society. From finance to health to entertainment and beyond.
Technologies such as virtual worlds and augmented reality will become vastly more interesting and important when people can use them on their smartphones, on the blockchain.
For example, If we designed a metaverse in the image of our own life experiences, we would design it to accommodate the reality of human communication: voice, video, and text. You could call it the ultimate communication layer.
You could create a virtual workspace with telepresence so that you could interact with other people around the world in an immersive way.
Other examples of this could include:
- Banking the unbanked
- Immutable and transparent financial systems
- Censorship-resistant communication networks
- Fundraising for projects that are not approved for a bank loan
- Empowering people to take control of their own life through decentralized means
In other words, this technology provides people with freedom and the opportunity to live a better life.
How do we gain access to the metaverse?
What is it like to be there? What options exist to get there in the first place?
Accessing the metaverse is something that could be done through a number of different mediums, being VR helmet the most obvious.
How do we make content available on the Metaverse?
The way we do this is through blockchain technology where everyone can create, download and share digital assets.
One effective way would be to build a digital library framework that can hold various kinds of content and has different ways of discovery. For example, it would be helpful if the digital library framework could hold game info-data(texts, videos, images…), distribute game assets(digital goods), and/or support local community building. The digital library framework should have an API platform for communication with other applications such as crowdfunding and payment modules.
