Ripple Partners with Stripe-Owned Privy to Bring Embedded Wallets to XRP Ledger
Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy partner to enable embedded XRPL wallets for developers, supporting XRP, RLUSD, and AI agent transactions via x402.
- Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy announced a partnership on October 13 to add XRP Ledger support to Privy’s wallet infrastructure.
- Developers can create embedded and server-side wallets for XRP, RLUSD and other assets without requiring users to manage private keys.
- The integration supports AI agent payments through the x402 protocol as XRPL reports more than 13 million agent transactions representing roughly 25% of network activity.
Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy have partnered to bring programmable wallet infrastructure to the XRP Ledger, allowing developers to embed XRPL wallets directly into applications for payments and agentic commerce.
The announcement, made on October 13, enables developers to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions, and support assets including XRP and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin without requiring end users to handle private keys or seed phrases themselves. Privy confirmed the same details in its own post and blog.
"Privy brings proven wallet infrastructure that makes it easier for fintechs and developers to bring XRPL into real products, from payments and stablecoin experiences to emerging forms of agentic commerce," said Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, in the Privy announcement. Henri Stern, co-founder and CEO of Privy, added that the network has been "building for payments from the start."
Embedded wallets sit inside an application so users can send and receive assets without installing separate wallet software. Server-side wallets further allow AI agents to hold funds and execute payments, including through the x402 protocol for machine-to-machine transactions. According to Ripple, the XRP Ledger has already processed more than 13 million agent payments, which account for roughly 25% of network activity.
Privy’s documentation notes that users retain the ability to export private keys and seed phrases, preserving self-custody options. The companies plan to deepen the integration with policy controls and gas sponsorship over time. The XRP Ledger Foundation highlighted that wallets are now live in Privy, linking to developer documentation.
The partnership arrives as XRPL continues to position itself for stablecoin and tokenized-asset settlement. With more than 8 million funded accounts and over $1 trillion in historical value moved, the network gains a ready-made developer onboarding path through Privy’s existing infrastructure used by fintechs. Stripe acquired Privy in 2025, though the firm continues to operate separately.
Coverage in The Block and CoinDesk underscored the focus on reducing friction for payments applications and AI-driven commerce on the ledger.
