Jack Dorsey, is an American businessman and web developer, co-founder and ex-CEO of Twitter with Evan Williams and Cristopher Stone. Born on November 19, 1976, under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jack showed a great interest in technology as a child, at the age of 14 he designed and developed software for the logistics area that is used by taxi companies to this day.
After his teens, Dorsey attended New York University, following in the tradition of computer science entrepreneurs such as Bill Gates, Mark Zukerberg, and Steve Jobs. He never completed his studies, he decided to drop out in 2000 shortly before graduating.
Dorsey first considered texting and instant messaging, using dispatch software principles, as a way to keep in touch with friends.
In 2006, he approached Williams and Stone with his idea, together they created a prototype of what would later become the Twitter platform.
On March 21, 2006, Dorsey posted the first-ever tweet in history.
Square/block
In 2009, Dorsey co-founded and became CEO of Square, a mobile payments company that offered devices and software to facilitate credit card transactions. It was launched in 2010 and in 2012 it had more than two million users.

On December 2, 2021, Dorsey changed the name and logo of Square to Block, as a corporate brand and includes CashApp, Spiralbtc, TIDAL and TBD.
“‘Block’ refers to the neighborhood blocks where we find our vendors, a chain of blocks, block parties filled with music, obstacles to overcome, a section of code, building blocks and, of course, tungsten cubes”.
Dorsey is known for his interest in cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology that powers them.
