The Treasury Department of the United States prohibited recently Tornado Cash, a method for mixing Ethereum tokens. Tornado Cash pools transactions to obscure their origins and make it more difficult to ascertain where digital currency was being transported.

Now, an anonymous troll is sending Ethereum to celebrities from a Tornado Cash wallet, ostensibly to demonstrate how difficult it would be for the United States government to enforce its prohibition on the mixing service.

Jimmy Fallon, the CEO of Coinbase, and YouTuber Logan Paul are among the celebrities whose Ethereum wallets have been “dusted” by the troll

Jimmy Fallon, the CEO of Coinbase, and YouTuber Logan Paul are among the celebrities whose Ethereum wallets have been “dusted” by the troll, in the sense that they have received little amounts of Ethereum.

It is currently banned for U.S. citizens to use Tornado Cash, including accepting payments from Tornado Cash-using addresses. In reality, though, it is difficult to block bitcoin transfers to a public wallet address.

The police stated that criminals, including Lazarus Outfit, a hacking gang backed by the North Korean government, used the application to launder billions of dollars in illegal payments.
