Andre Cronje: “Stop f*cking around with useless tokens”
The Fantom guy doesn’t hold back
Andre Cronje is back. The creator of Fantom and one of the most respected (and feared) devs in crypto dropped a few bombs this week. As always, unfiltered.
The industry is out of control, and Andre said it with zero sugarcoating: “Crypto needs less narrative and more substance.” In a Medium post and several replies on X (Twitter), he called out the obsession with launching pointless tokens. “Stop making tokens for everything. Decentralization isn’t an excuse for chaos,” he fired.
So what’s all this about?
Cronje’s worried. He says the ecosystem is self-destructing with scams, nonsense projects, and devs chasing a quick buck. His message was loud and clear: “We don’t need more blockchains, we need better products.”
In one of his latest public appearances, he dropped this gem: “If you’re building in crypto and don’t care about the end user, you’re part of the problem.”
The reactions: love and hate (as always)
As expected, the community split. Some cheered him on for speaking the truth. Others called him “elitist” or “out of touch with the new wave.” But the guy has a point, and several OGs had his back.
One of the most viral tweets came from Cronje himself:
“The road to decentralization is paved with accountability, not hype.”
Clear, direct, and with a solid punch.
Reading between the lines
This isn’t just a rant. It’s a call for the ecosystem to grow up. Cronje had already stepped away from the spotlight, sick of the noise and the bullshit. But now he’s back with a mission: bring order.
He says Fantom is focusing on efficiency, scalability, and real use cases. No smoke. No “meme coins” that vanish as fast as a viral tweet.
Who is Andre Cronje
For those late to the party: Andre Cronje is a South African developer, the brain behind Yearn Finance, and a key figure in Fantom. A guy who loves building, hates cheap marketing, and has zero tolerance for bullshit.
For years he was seen as a DeFi rockstar. But the pressure burned him out and he stepped away. Now he seems ready to return — on his own terms, speaking truths no one wants to hear.
The official Twitter
You can follow him on X: @AndreCronjeTech. But don’t expect fluff. When he speaks, it’s because he has something worth saying.
To sum it up: Andre dropped the mic. He’s not the first to call out the mess in crypto, but when he does it, the industry shakes. Maybe now people will stop messing around and start building stuff that actually matters.
