MetaMask’s Sell Feature for Crypto-to-Fiat Conversion
MetaMask Sell Feature for Crypto-to-Fiat Transactions could be a game-changer.
- MetaMask has introduced a new Sell feature.
- The feature allows users to convert their crypto to fiat.
- It supports ETH on Ethereum Mainnet, with plans to expand to native gas tokens on layer 2 networks.
- The service is available in the US, UK, and parts of Europe.
MetaMask, a leading Ethereum crypto wallet, has recently launched a new feature that is set to revolutionize the way users convert their crypto assets into fiat currency. This feature, aptly named the ‘Sell’ feature, is designed to provide a seamless and efficient crypto-to-fiat conversion experience.
Understanding the Sell Feature
The Sell feature is an innovative addition to MetaMask’s portfolio. It allows users to easily cash out their crypto assets into fiat currency (USD, EUR, GBP) in just a few clicks. This feature is combined with the Buy feature, enabling users to have a self-sufficient web3 experience with fewer intermediaries and faster fiat conversion directly to their destination of choice where available, like their bank account or PayPal balance.
How it Works
To sell your crypto using MetaMask’s Sell feature, you need to follow these steps:
- Connect your MetaMask wallet to portfolio.metamask.io.
- Click the “Sell” tab to get started.
- Select your region.
- Select the token and network you want to sell from (example: ETH on Ethereum).
- Select fiat account destination available in your location (e.g., bank account or PayPal balance).
- Enter the crypto amount you want to sell (example: 0.5 ETH).
MetaMask, the leading Ethereum wallet, had already taken a major step in improving the user experience by integrating PayPal for Ethereum (ETH) purchases. This integration, announced by MetaMask developer ConsenSys, allows U.S. users to purchase and transfer Ethereum directly from its MetaMask mobile app.
To use this feature, users simply log into the MetaMask mobile app, click the “Buy” button and select “PayPal” as the payment method. This integration allows Ethereum to be purchased using PayPal balance, a linked bank account or a debit card.
High Fees
The local community has already started experimenting with the latest addition, with numerous individuals expressing discontent towards the steep charges imposed for the service.
A user disclosed that they incurred transaction expenses amounting to 9%, with most of the fees allocated to MoonPay, the provider that facilitated the withdrawal. Nevertheless, the user confirmed receiving the funds from the sale in their bank account in under five minutes.

The Sell feature is currently available in the US, UK, and parts of Europe with plans to expand to more regions. Initially supporting ETH on Ethereum Mainnet, there are plans to expand support to native gas tokens on layer 2 networks soon.
