Crypto Markets Rebound: Bitcoin Tops $82K on China GDP and Futures Rally

| CryptoPress |

Bitcoin has extended its recovery, trading around $82,500 to $82,700 after a weekend dip near $80,700. The bounce is fueled by China’s third-quarter GDP growth beating estimates at 4.5% year-on-year, stronger retail sales, a rebound in Nasdaq 100 futures after last week’s tech selloff, and easing oil prices. Altcoins outperformed, with the CoinDesk 80 gaining more than the bitcoin-heavy CoinDesk 5, and DeFi tokens leading sector gains. This macro relief comes after a rough week of inflation pressures (US CPI at 3.7%) and AI spending concerns that weighed on risk assets. Despite the uptick, institutional demand remains soft, with continued ETF outflows highlighting caution ahead of the Federal Reserve’s October 27-28 meeting.

Other news:

Positive 📈

  • Arbitrum (ARB) rose ~7-8% on the Stablecoin Growth Program offering 2M ARB rewards for USDG adoption by DeFi teams.
  • JPMorgan expanded its JPM Coin deposit token to the Ethereum mainnet for institutional clients.
  • Revolut secured a Gibraltar DLT license to support international crypto expansion.
  • BNB Foundation completed its 37th quarterly burn, removing over 1.64 million BNB.
  • DeFi tokens broadly advanced, including gains in UNI, LDO, and ENA as the sector recovers.

Neutral ⚖️

  • US inflation data showed 3.7% CPI, with Fed in blackout period ahead of the Oct 27-28 FOMC meeting.
  • XRP’s 13-week ETF inflow streak ended with $1.84 million in redemptions.
  • Nine US firms including Broadcom and Verizon opposed tokenized stock trading on OKXICE.

Negative 📉

  • US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded ~$229 million in net outflows last week, the second consecutive week.
  • Ethereum ETFs saw ~$320 million outflows (third week), with October ETH outflows nearing $1 billion.
  • Combined BTC and ETH ETF outflows totaled ~$549 million, reflecting weak institutional appetite amid macro uncertainty.

Arbitrum (ARB) is among the top movers in larger caps, up around 7-8% recently and ~16% since the Stablecoin Growth Program announcement, trading near $0.197. Other gainers include smaller tokens like Bedrock and Raydium, while majors like SOL and XRP are mixed. Potential opportunities in ARB on ecosystem incentives or BTC near $81,000 support levels, though risks from ETF outflows and Fed policy persist. Bitcoin has been rangebound ~$80k-$84k over the past week.
