Madrid, July 1, 2022.- Polkadot, the network protocol that creates a true multi-chain application, has announced in the markup of its global event, Polkadot Decoded, that the Substrate Developer Hub has just received a major update aimed at improving the experience of learning and creation of Substrate.

In addition to a completely revamped documentation experience, Polkadot has also launched the Substrate Marketplace , a comprehensive tool to discover the full range of Substrate Pallets available for your next project.

Pallets are the building blocks of Substrate’s next-generation blockchains, powerful modules, and supporting libraries that you can use, modify, and extend to create runtime logic that suits your blockchain’s needs.

The launch of the Substrate Marketplace makes it easier than ever for developers to search for available pallets while planning their Polkadot, Kusama, or solochain project. In addition to open-source pallets included natively with FRAME, developers can now also search for those developed by the community and offered to the community under various open-source licenses.

Substrate Marketplace works by fetching pallets submitted to crates.io and under runtimes from teams’ GitHub repositories, via the GraphQL API.

While developers can view pallets posted by Parity and the community on crates.io, the Substrate Marketplace provides a more personalized experience for Substrate developers building their own chain. Additionally, several exciting updates are planned for Substrate Marketplace that will provide even more value-added features in the future.

For ease of navigation, Substrate Marketplace is divided into three main sections:

1. Runtimes: discover the power of composition

There, you will see examples of the business logic enabled by the combination of multi-pallet capabilities. This comprehensive section lists over 100 complete runtimes, including those from popular parachain projects, so there’s a good chance a solution already exists to meet your needs. Browse by category to find the scaffolding for your next project and see examples of how pallets are combined to create custom blockchains designed for specific purposes.

2. Pallets: choose the right components for the job

Explore nearly 100 open-source extensible modules designed to help you take advantage of pre-built components for common blockchain capabilities and speed up your development process. The pallet listings are easily searchable by category and contain all existing native FRAME pallets, plus a wide range of community-contributed pallets. The individual listings contain complete information on licenses, Github Insights, and dependencies.

3. Projects: get inspired by others

This handy section is sure to inspire you with comprehensive listings of over 120 active projects in the Substrate and Dotsama ecosystems. From DeFi to file and gaming storage to smart contracts, the list of projects to inspire you for your own efforts is growing by the day. Browse by category and access high-level information on branch and project pages with ease.

As the range of projects and pallets associated with Substrate continues to grow, the Substrate Marketplace will take on a crucial role in navigating the pool of options available to developers of all experience levels. As well as serving as a valuable resource in its own right, it also showcases the burgeoning power of the Polkadot community. Parity anticipates that a large community of innovators, developers, and startups will continue to contribute and expand the library of modules available with a growing number of open-source and commercial platforms. The Substrate Marketplace, in turn, provides a place for these teams to gain visibility into their work.

Start browsing today and discover the full range of pallets available to Substrate developers.
