  • UxTIC University Network, Binance Foundation and Univida join forces to train at least 200 students in new technologies and crypto-finance
  • The course will last 24 hours and seeks to encourage the study and research of these technologies in research groups and seedbeds.

Colombia, Bogotá DC, December 14, 2020.- The network of UxTIC Universities, focused on promoting research in information technology; Binance Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to achieving global sustainable development through the blockchain, belonging to the Binance company, the largest cryptocurrency exchange platform in the world, and Univida, a Virtual and Distance Academic Unit, joined forces to launch the first SPOC (Small Private Online Course, for its acronym in English) with an academic focus, which integrates knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrencies in Colombia and whose purpose is to train future researchers and teachers and promote further research in the country for the use of digital currencies and blockchain technology.

The course was developed by experts in the field of UxTIC and has a duration of 24 hours, divided into four modules that will integrate the basic fundamentals of blockchain, and cryptocurrencies. A first phase will be carried out for at least 200 students from 2 universities and then extended to 30 more universities in Colombia. Participants will obtain a certificate upon completion of the course and an incentive from Binance to begin practice in the use and exchange of cryptocurrencies.

“University students must be prepared for the future. New currencies such as Facebook will emerge and many global institutions will implement blockchain, therefore, they should know what it is and take advantage of this end of the year period to know, certify, practice and be part of this community. It will be aimed exclusively at students and academics, since our objective is to promote research and provide tools to the educational sector to deepen on these issues, “said Philipe Boland of the UxTIC Network.

For its part, for the Binance Foundation this course is the gateway to long-term work with Colombian universities, since the idea is to create alliances that allow greater knowledge of the sector, consolidate academic and research ecosystems, develop laboratories and promote knowledge and education of the future in digital currencies.

“For Binance, education is an important pillar for the sector in which we develop, without knowledge people will hardly be able to understand and take advantage of the benefits provided by new technologies and new financial ecosystems. Therefore, in addition to our Binance Academy training platform, we are very happy to start this accompaniment to the academic sector and together work to promote research in experts and teachers. For us, this marks the beginning of a long-term work that we want to develop with all the universities in the country and thus allow more Colombians to have access to this information, stay updated and be a reference for the region ”, said Bryan Benson, director of Binance Latam operations.

To pre-register for the course, interested students, graduates, administrators and teachers must enter with their university email and fill out the following form  https://forms.gle/RNJ4C2dekN6Sc2GP9  .
