Gamestop has announced that it will be launching a beta version of its NFT and cryptocurrency wallet. The wallet will allow users to store, send, and receive crypto and nfts.

Gamestop is known for being one of the largest retailers in gaming, selling both physical and digital games. However, they are also now venturing into the crypto space by launching their own wallet platform. The platform will be compatible with all major operating systems including Android, iOS, Windows 10, and macOS.

This new platform is part of Gamestop’s larger plan to expand beyond just gaming products. They have said that they believe this new initiative will help them cater to their customers better by allowing them to sell more than just games but also other products such as movies or music using digital currency.

The beta version of the self-custodial Ethereum wallet is available for download now from GameStop’s website.

According to the information, the main advantages of GameStop Wallet are the possibility of secure storage of cryptocurrencies and NFTs (non-fungible tokens), the ability to use Ethereum dApps, and transactions that are conducted via Loopring Layer 2. Also worth noting is the browser extension for PC users and the fact that GameStop Wallet is self-custodial.

Says in a press release: “The wallet extension, which can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store, will also enable transactions on GameStop’s NFT marketplace, which is expected to launch in the second quarter of GameStop’s fiscal year.”

NFT marketplace

The firm announced on Wednesday that it is launching a beta for its new NFT (non-fungible token) wallet and marketplace, which will allow gamers to trade their digital collectibles using blockchain technology.

The firm partnered with Layer 2 system Immutable X for its marketplace, which will sit on Ethereum.

As part of the effort, the two companies have established USD $100 million funds aimed at supporting game developers launching their NFT projects on the marketplace. GameStop’s digital collectibles trading site, powered by Immutable X’s technology, is expected to go live sometime in 2022.

In January of this year, Gamestop reported the creation of a new division dedicated exclusively to NFT games.
